Matterhorn is a highly versatile venue suitable for both large-scale and intimate celebrations. The space is a timeless blend of charm and modern amenities. It’s chic décor and spacious floor plan add to the sophisticated aesthetic and flexible atmosphere, inviting guests to dream big and add their own bit of flair to the occasion. Established in 1977, Matterhorn has become one of Elkhart’s most treasured and long-standing venues. The expansive building features three separate banquet halls, all of which can be combined to accommodate larger gatherings. The East Room is the venue’s smallest space and provides a cozy setting for up to 80 people. The helpful staff can easily join the East, Oak, and West Rooms into a combination that best suits the desired needs and capacity. Linking all three rooms allows for a large dance floor and gives 500 guests ample room to mix and mingle.

With a desire to keep the party going all night, I jumped behind the booth and let my passion for dance guide me to be a fun and entertaining DJ. I enjoy seeing the expression on everyones face when their go jam comes over the speakers. I also love being the one to introduce new sounds and set my playlists aside from the typical DJ.

The gorgeous ballroom features elaborate crystal chandeliers, elegant draperies, state of the art audiovisual technology, and a balcony overlooking the quaint cityscape of Elkhart below. The stately space boasts 18-22-foot ceilings embellished with ornate moldings and trim throughout. The exquisite atmosphere, culinary excellence, and stellar service perfectly combine to enchant guests of all ages. The Crystal Ballroom is suitable for large banquets, weddings, and business conferences, and can even be partitioned to accommodate smaller events. From its historical beginnings as a stoic munitions depot, The Armory experienced a beautiful transformation to showcase a sophisticated ballroom, classy built-in bar and impressive commercial kitchen. Original element of the 1928 Armory construction and subsequent Newman Recreations Center were incorporated into the even space renovation to provide the perfect blend of past and present.Iron-barred doors used to secure armers and thick concrete walls reinforced with brick to accommodate the National Guard Armory and shooting range lend a rustic industrial aesthetic. Wood from the recreation center bleachers line the dramatic bar and the orginial hardwood floor was dressed up to grace the ballroom. The vaulted timber ceilings and exposed truss work allow the dazzling period chandeliers an opportunity to lend an air of elegance to the urban decor. When, I was eight, I announced to my parents, “I want to play the harp.” Their wisely cautious response was to give me a year of piano lessons! Constructed in 1871 by Bavarian immigrant Philip H. Zorn Jr., Barrelhouse The Venue resides on the historic Zorn campus. As an annex to the brewery, Barrelhouse The Venue would manufacture beer barrels to house fresh beer prior to distribution around Northwest Indiana. Though unoccupied now, the original ice-house, brew-house, and malting building still stand across the street, a reminder of the dream Philip Zorn brought with him to America.
