“We worked with Sarah Rosier, proprietor of Sleeping Bee Designs, for our wedding in May 2025 at Attaboy Barrel House in Frederick, MD and the experience was absolutely fantastic! Without hesitation, we would recommend Sarah and her team to any couple getting married in the DMV area. Our wedding faced weather complications at the last minute, but because of Sarah’s planning, coordination, relationships with vendors, and upbeat attitude, the day turned out even better than we had dreamed! We met with Sarah for monthly planning sessions, and she was always willing to be flexible if we needed to reschedule or meet for longer than planned. We knew what general vibe we wanted for our wedding, but did not have a specific theme or vendors in mind. Based on her years of experience in the business, Sarah recommended 3-4 vendor options to us for each category that fit our vision and budget, and all of whom were used to working with one another and with Sarah, so they were able to pull off a flawless event! In the end, we made the final vendor decisions based on her recommendations, but her recommendations totally removed the guesswork for us. We never, ever felt as if we were being pushed in any one direction; rather, we always felt that Sarah had our best interests at heart. Sarah has a great memory and is very organized, so she helped keep us on track and made sure there were no loose ends. The master to-do list template she provided kept us on task and helped us break up larger tasks in a manageable way. She was also conscious of our budget throughout the process, foresaw logistical issues ahead of time to save us time and money, and helped suggest places where we could reasonably cut costs (as well as emphasizing to us which places required *not* cutting corners on cost to ensure a seamless event). One important value of hiring Sarah is her relationship with vendors in the area, and ability to communicate with them on the couple’s behalf. This made it so much easier to plan and saved us time. Sarah creates a detailed timeline for the wedding day and takes care of coordinating it with vendors and staff to ensure everyone is on task and on the same page about how the day will go. She was also excellent at communicating with our wedding party. Everything went so smoothly on the actual day! We also contracted with Sarah for our flowers/decor. We told Sarah we wanted to spend less money on this element and adhere to minimalist decoration, and Sarah identified a really fun and colorful approach using growlers, bunny tails, and candles. We loved the way it looked on the day! Finally, we were blown away by how Sarah handled the last minute challenges involved when the weather looked like it wouldn’t cooperate. We had planned to do our ceremony outdoors, but needed to make a rain call 48 hours in advance. Prior to the rain call, Sarah had already marshaled our vendors together to talk through contingencies, drafted an alternate schedule, and put together a decoration plan for our indoor ceremony location. We felt so taken care of and the extra effort helped make us feel comfortable with changing plans last minute. Our wedding party and family members even keep talking about how amazing she was to work with. Sarah is the best at what she does! Thank you, Sarah!”

Now that we’re on the other side of our wedding I can say hands down hiring Caroline was one of if not the best decision we made during the process. We both can not recommend her more. “Stop looking...THIS is where you should have your wedding! We weren’t sure what vibe we wanted for our wedding at first, but the moment we walked into Union Mills, we knew it was the right choice. The venue is gorgeous, inside and out—the pictures truly speak for themselves—and it’s perfectly located: walking distance to everything Frederick has to offer, yet super convenient for guests driving in. The part that truly sold us: the food. Niko will literally make anything you want. We chose a fairly traditional dinner, but he added incredible twists that made it unforgettable, like lavender honey butter with our bread assortment, pepitas and pickled onions in our watermelon salad, and the most delicious herb-crusted potatoes (people are still raving about them) alongside our chimichurri steak. Both Mary and Niko go above and beyond to deliver exceptional service. Just a few examples: they let me store my dress in the bridal suite 48 hours before the wedding, added a non-alcoholic prosecco to our getting-ready spread when they heard two of my bridesmaids were pregnant, tracked down porters for my mother-in-law (her favorite), got my husband a special bottle of whiskey for the evening, and even fine-tuned my signature cocktail (a watermelon margarita) the very morning of the wedding to make sure it was perfect. On top of that, their staff was constantly checking on us throughout the entire night to make sure we were having the best time...and we absolutely were. We truly couldn’t recommend a better venue. Location, ambiance, food, service...Union Mills has it all. We only wish we could get married here every weekend!”

“Kay was hands down the best wedding photographer I could have ever asked for. Her style is light and bright which transferred the brightness and happiness of our beautiful wedding day. Not only is she incredibly professional and sweet, but she also delivered a preview in 1 day and our full day of photos in about TWO WEEKS. The online gallery she sent us had literacy over 1,000 photos and they were all edited beautifully. She was able to capture every tear, every funny face, and every unattractive cheesy head-thrown-back laugh. Other than family portraits, she was truly a documentary style photographer in that no photos were staged and every shot is authentic. I could go on and on and on about the actual photos, but in addition to the extreme high quality of her work, Kay was reassuring and helpful throughout the whole process, going so far as supporting me even more than my day-of-coordinator in the creation of the timeline for the day of. “Hiring Mike as our wedding DJ was one of the best decisions we made!! From our first meeting, Mike was professional and friendly, providing us with a lot of information and answering all of our questions. After we booked with him, he set up an easy-to-use app for us to select our songs, write notes about the reception, and communicate any special instructions. It helped us keep track of what to prepare and how to plan the timeline of our day since we didn't have a wedding planner. Mike also came to an in person meeting with our venue so he could be prepared for the wedding day, and he was completely set up and ready when we arrived for cocktail hour and dinner. “The Hummingbird Chateau was the perfect choice for our wedding venue! From the beginning, Leah’s communication was quick and responsive, which was greatly appreciated during the busy wedding planning process. The space itself was absolutely stunning, with so many decor options to choose from, multiple areas we could choose from for our ceremony and actual bathrooms for our guests! From the moment we booked I was able to call or text her with any questions I had and was also able to stop by multiple times to choose which decor pieces I wanted to use and to go over decor layouts. On the day of the wedding, Leah and the rest of the staff were there all day to help with anything we needed! They helped setup all the decor and even helped cleaned up afterwards. She also coordinated with our other vendors day of and made sure everything was running smooth! She made our day completely stress free. We are an outdoor venue on a pollinator farm. You will enjoy stunning views of rolling hills, wide open space, and big skies. Our two acre pollinator field and wildflower ruins are sure to inspire frolicking. Our pricing includes a reception tent and a luxury bathroom trailer. We offer table decor and florist service as an add on. Picture sparkling quartz, electric candles, fairy lights, and our incredible zero waste flowers that we grow in our gardens. We do bridal bouquets and boutonnières as well. Come see it for yourself as barn swallows swoop around you like in a fairytale.

Illusions Weddings is a photography team. Michelle graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors Of Fine Art In Photography in 1999. While living in CA she worked for a Hollywood Photo studio for 4 yrs. Upon moving to Colorado she worked at a wedding and portrait studio. Angela is a self taught photographer. In her youth she dabbled in modeling. This taught her posing, angles and finding the light. She is a classically trained visual artist in many mediums. Through that she learned to understand human form. 15 years ago she opened a face and body painting business and added photography shortly after.

“Jon was highly recommended by our wedding planner (Lissa Marie Weddings and Events), and we immediately hired him after our initial meeting. It really says something when other vendors only have great things to say! He did such a wonderful job on our wedding day and really kepted everything flowing smoothly with no hiccups. Our ceremony sounds was absolutely perfect and the microphones were sooo easy to use and captured all the sound perfectly. Jon was great at making announcements, (even though it wasn't planned) like when he had to tell people to go to cocktail hour. We also had a photobooth package with him and the attendant did such a great job running the booth. It was definitely the most popular event and our families still raves about the pictures they took! From the moment we met Jon, he was just so easy to talk to and knew exactly what we wanted for the day when we shared our vision. Jon is so professional, supportive, and positive, and I can't imagine having someone else on our special day. “Maryland National was the PERFECT venue for our wedding! From the very beginning, Reghan and the whole team were incredible. Reghan went above and beyond to help us plan everything – she was so easy to work with and always had the best recommendations. I loved how easy it was to communicate with her through email. We got married at our church, but had the reception at Maryland National. They even let us use the club to get ready since our church didn't have a space! The girls got ready upstairs, and the guys used the locker rooms, which was amazing for getting-ready photos. Plus, the food was delicious! What we loved most was that we didn't have to set up or clean up anything – Maryland National took care of it all. We didn't even have to take decorations home the night of the wedding! We could pick them up the next day. It was the most perfect day, and we can't thank Reghan and the staff enough. Seriously, if you're looking for an amazing venue, this is it!”
