After moving to Beacon, NY around the same time, it made sense to start an official wedding music business to share their love of music with some of the many happy couples getting married in the Hudson Valley. “We hired Skylark to perform the ceremony and cocktail hour music for our wedding and they were amazing.! We were able to communicate with them efficiently and hash out our “music vision.” Unfortunately, due to issues with our shuttle buses our wedding had to be delayed by an hour and a half, but luckily Justin and Jesse were there to keep the guests that had arrived entertained with their music while they waited. I also appreciated that they learned the songs that I envisioned my bridal party and I walking down the aisle to, which helped make the moment even more magical. Rob took the time to text or set up whatever zoom calls we felt we needed. For the actual day, Rob was amazing. We had dinner service, reception, and "after party". Robs killed it with his flow between songs, and was incredibly accommodating and flexible if we had any requests in the moment, and was able to dodge or handle any "questionable" song requests that came his way. We knew that he always put my husband and I's wishes first. We also had multiple people comment on how good the DJ was during the reception, and after the fact! He also went above and beyond to pull heroics the day of to get some of our DIY spot lighting set up that wasn't set up the night prior. Rob was incredible to work with, and just as fun to chat with. “The Music Boutique was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the very beginning, Scott was extremely helpful and responsive, and always providing us with great ideas, suggestions, and guidance to make our day special. We had a duo playing for our ceremony and during the cocktail hour and then we had a small 3 person band playing for our reception. And it was the perfect amount of people. We had spoken to some other bands and they all kept saying we need some big band for the reception, but since we were having less than 100 people at the wedding, we didn’t think it made sense to have like a 10 person band, it just seemed like it would overwhelm the whole wedding. And we knew we wanted a band component since my father plays guitar and I had a feeling would want to play a song at some point. Then we spoke with Scott, he seemed to understand our vision of having a small band. He loved the idea of my father playing a song, and made suggestions on when was the perfect time for him to play, and even laughed along with our idea of playing “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, over and over again, since we were getting married on “the 21st night of September” (we did not do this)! The day of the band was amazing! They even took the time to learn our first dance song, which was a fairly unknown track, and played it beautifully, and surprised us with playing it. Since we thought it was just going to be a recorded version of the song. That was very special to us! And they were more than happy to let my dad play his song to us. Overall, the band's performance was lively and engaging, and they kept our guests dancing all night long. We couldn't have asked for a better band to help make our wedding celebration so memorable, and couldn’t have done it with Scott!”

“If anyone were to ask me what my favorite part of my wedding was I’d have to say “Black Walnut Farm!” What a remarkable experience it has been to work with Sarah, Jim, Lish, Lindsey, and of course, Miss Lilly! My partner and I didn’t even bother viewing another venue because we could instantly feel how special the BWF property was — we called 30 minutes after our tour and said we were ready for the contract and deposit. Even still Black Walnut Farm far exceeded our expectations! Everything about this venue is so thoughtfully curated and managed. There is just so much care and consideration that has gone into every inch of this very special place! My partner and I decided to have a “honeymoon” week during the week of the wedding; we chose to have the extended package where we stayed on the property just the two of us. Unwinding in front of the fireplace while playing chess and drinking wine was such a lovely way to relax the night before. The sunroom is the perfect place for getting ready the morning of the wedding! After our wedding (in lieu of an after party) we just asked to have the hot tub ready for us, which was the best move ever! Most importantly, the BWF team were so kind and patient, cool and collected. In the face of some extreme family drama and chaotic spring weather they always rolled with the punches. I felt that I could trust them fully and always felt safe and cared for. I was not afraid to defer to their expertise in the midst of the chaos, and I do not regret any of those decisions! In fact, the backup rain plan ended up being better than the original plan! Thank you again, Black Walnut Farm. You have created something so very, very special and we will be eternally grateful!”

“Allyse was amazing, to say the least. My husband and I got married on July 4th and wanted to incorporate fireworks into our event somehow. Our venue wouldn’t allow it for safety reasons(understandable) so we talked to Allyse and decided to do a first look a few nights before with fireworks. The photos from the first look were amazing! We started during daylight and they captured everything perfectly. But let me tell you, the way the photos with the fireworks came out was STUNNING!!! Only a true professional could have done what they did! Allyse and her husband did a fantastic job snapping everything moment of our wedding and catching some of the sweetest memories that I can cherish forever- including my 80 year old grandmother holding my 3 month old son! The look of love on her face was so candid and sweet. Every member of the staff was exceptional, working seamlessly to ensure everything ran like clockwork. Billiam, Erica, Magic Cathy (yes, she really is magic!), Iván, and Juan—what a powerhouse of a team. You can tell this isn’t just a job for them; it’s a calling, and it shows in every thoughtful detail. One of the promises this venue makes is that you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in the joy of your wedding without worrying about logistics—and let me tell you, they deliver. Every element was handled with care and professionalism, allowing us to focus entirely on celebrating our love and being present with our guests. Photos alone don’t do justice to his work; in person, it felt like walking through a fairy tale. And beyond his artistry, Iván’s generosity shone through—when my mom’s dress wouldn’t stay up, he literally stepped in and tailored it on the spot. Who does that? Absolutely magical. We’re still floating on cloud nine, and much of that joy is thanks to Erica of Clean Plate Pictures, whose vision and presence put me at ease (especially as someone more used to being behind the camera). Her team captured every precious moment so effortlessly—it all felt natural, never forced. We just got our teaser photos back, and if those are just the previews, we can only imagine how breathtaking the full gallery will be. And let’s talk about the food. As a group of serious foodies, our guests were thrilled—and still talking—about the menu crafted by the extraordinary Juan Romero. We opted for the upgraded, customized selections, and wow… Chimichurri steak, Mediterranean lamb meatballs, tacos al pastor, smashies and more. Every bite was next-level delicious. We also highly recommend upgrading to include the flower bar—such a creative, memorable way to send your guests home with something special—and booking the extra hour on the farm. Also: don’t sleep on the silent disco package! It was the ultimate grand finale. Most of our guests had never experienced one before, and it turned out to be a massive hit. I think for people who are planning a wedding for the first time don't realize how much having a vendor who is patient, detail-oriented, and willing to hold your hand and guide you through the process of booking, understanding your goals, and planning for your special day matters, and Matthew could teach a masterclass in this. The pre-work Matthew did of planning, researching the venue, coordinating, and communicating effectively and efficiently was next-level professionalism, and really sets the bar for what it means to book a wedding photographer. I also think it's important to note that all of the post wedding communication has been top-notch – I think it would be understandable to call the job done after the check is paid, but quality of our communication has been consistently amazing. Day-Of Logistics / Shot Direction Matthew and his second photographer followed the plan we had set pre-wedding to a T. They were actively leading the coordinating and making sure we had all of the necessary people ready to keep to our timeline. When it was time to do different set shots (family, bridal party, ceremony, sunset), Matthew had locations in mind and was able to give guidance that made us feel comfortable and natural while getting so so many amazing shots (in very constrained timeframes). Personality I think Matthew has a very high emotional intelligence, and he was so good at genuinely making everyone feel comfortable in subtle ways. My family and my husband are all very camera shy, and notoriously hate getting their photos taken. There were so many little interactions and things that Matthew did and said that made each person feel comfortable in their own way. A few examples that come to mind: - At one point, my mom was leaning against a staircase, and Matthew took a portrait of her and told her she was a natural at posing – up until that point, she had been feeling and looking nervous, and after that she really opened up and looked so happy and comfortable. - My dad is extremely camera shy, hates being on camera and typically looks terrified and self conscious in photos. Matthew said a few things while he was taking our photos that I think really made my dad focus on how excited he was for me and my wedding, and you can just see how happy and loving he is in the photos.”

“Erica is AMAZING!!! From our very first consultation call with her, my fiancé and I knew she was the best choice for our engagement shoot and wedding. We laughed and chatted and felt comfortable right off the bat. I have been told that you end up being around your wedding photographer more than almost anyone else on your wedding day - so it's super important you feel comfortable around them, so I was thrilled to feel like I have known her for years just over a Zoom call! Then, she managed to fit us in her schedule last minute, and drive over 3 hours to us in the Greater Boston area to shoot at the Arnold Arboretum! Talk about going above and beyond!!!! She frolicked around the park in the cold with us, LITERALLY climbing in and out of bushes and trees to get these gorgeous shots. You couldn't tell by the photos... but I was super duper nervous going into the shoot. I’m not a huge fan of my picture being taken… and the thought a professional camera made me feel extremely anxious. But Erica was so kind, and calm, and made me laugh and feel comfortable literally immediately!!! My fiancé and I are sooooo awkward too, but she expertly posed us in many different ways that make us look like pros LOL! A day that I had so much anxiety for… ended up being such a blast for both of us, truly. JUST THE SHOOT IN ITSELF will be a wonderful memory we will cherish forever. And then she got us the photos in record time, I couldn't believe it! So fast!!! And to no surprise, they were all incredible. It's so hard to choose a favorite, I have like 10 haha. I am beyond excited to have her shoot our wedding in the future. Five stars for EVERYTHING! Seriously. She is so incredibly talented!!!!”

Planning a wedding in two months was challenging, but booking Diamond Mills for our wedding venue was the best decision ever! We loved working with Stephanie, Carrie, and Brianne. They are highly organized and professional. Our wedding day was truly magical! Our guests had a wonderful time! We also really appreciate how the staff working on the day of our wedding ensured that my husband and I ate well (and remembered to eat as we interacted with our guests). The food served was delicious and we loved our wedding cake! Another great thing about booking the wedding at Diamond Mills is that the hotel is attached to the wedding venue - it was very convenient for us and our guests! It is clear that they do this because they are genuinely passionate about it and enjoy it.
