Our wedding at Meyer's Castle was nothing short of magical, and we owe so much of that to our incredible coordinator, Eva.

From day one, Eva was organized, thoughtful, and so genuinely caring. She made sure every detail was in place and that everything ran smoothly--not just behind the scenes, but for me personally as the bride. The day was beautiful, but hot, and Eva went above and beyond to make sure I stayed comfortable and calm. At one point when I was feeling overheated, she literally helped pin my hair up herself. That kind of kindness, grace, and hands-on support is something I'll never forget.

Meyer's Castle was the most stunning backdrop to our big day. The grounds are breathtaking, the atmosphere is so elegant, and our guests were completely blown away by the beauty of it all. Every part of the venue felt like it was straight out of a fairytale--from the ceremony setting to the castle charm that made the whole day feel surreal.

I truly can't imagine having done this without Eva by our side. She was a calm in the chaos, a true professional, and someone who genuinely cared about making our day perfect.

If you're thinking about booking Meyer's Castle--do it. And if you're lucky enough to have Eva as your coordinator, just know you're in the best hands. I'll be forever grateful for her and this dreamy venue that brought our love story to life.

Thank you, Eva & Meyer's Castle, for a day we'll cherish forever!

Lacuna Lofts saved the day after our first venue closed. We loved the unique space. The food was amazing—some of our guests said it was the best wedding dinner they've ever had! (The mashed potatoes were a real crowd pleaser.) It ended up raining on our wedding day, so we had to pivot and have our ceremony in Magik Street rather than the skydeck. The space worked perfectly with our flowers, and our guests still got to grab photos on the roof during cocktail hour.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to have our wedding reception at The Carter in June. From the moment we first toured The Carter up until a few days after our wedding, Chris (owner/operator) and the rest of The Carter staff went above and beyond for us. Chris was super responsive, so easy to work with, and created such an amazing vision for our day. Chris knows what is important to wedding guests and makes sure to prioritize those things - short lines for the bar, guests having a drink in their hand, food served quickly, etc. Everything about the space is perfect, the bridal suite is huge and has so much natural light. I got ready in the morning in the bridal suite and had 10 bridesmaids, my mom, 2 hair stylists, and 2 makeup artists in the space and there was plenty of room for all of us. Our hair stylists, makeup artists, and my bridesmaids raved about the bridal suite - definitely a huge perk of The Carter! The patio space is perfect for cocktail hour, I loved having that outdoor feature and so did our guests. The entrance/welcome space is stunning and such a great way to welcome guests into the space. The main reception area is so beautiful and has so much character with the brick walls and chandeliers that you need minimal decorations/florals which was a huge draw for me. The dance floor is big and fit our band along with all our guests. We were very fortunate to have a perfect 70 degree day so the garage doors were open throughout the entire cocktail hour and reception which was amazing. Literally, every single guest of ours raved about the space. I could go on and on about how amazing it is!! There is also parking easily available which is very rare for wedding venues in the city. We were also surprised the day of our wedding when they let us up onto the roof to get some fun golden hour shots. We had no idea they had roof space that was accessible for that type of pictures! I can't say enough about the staff at The Carter. I already mentioned how great Chris is. Stefan was a newer addition to The Carter staff and we were fortunate to work with him in the last week leading up to our wedding. He was there to let us drop off stuff a few days prior to the wedding and he had everything organized for us. The day of the wedding, Stefan was making sure our drinks for the bridal suite were on ice, he made sure trash was cleaned up, and would continually check on us to see if we needed anything. He told me, "you're not lifting a finger today" and me and my bridesmaids were so appreciative of everything he did for us. At the cocktail hour and reception, the servers and bartenders were great. Food came out quickly and there were no issues. Stefan was even sweet enough to let us leave some stuff after the reception and my friend came by to get the rest of it on Monday. Moral of the story is The Carter is hands down the best and really wants to make your wedding day perfect for you. Our day was literally perfection and we have The Carter to thank for that!

We were lucky enough to book Canal Street Eatery & Market for our wedding on October 19th, 2024. Working with the Canal Street Team to create our event was absolutely incredible – everyone who works here is kind, warm and provided top tier service to us and our guests. Elise, the senior sales manager for catering and events, is an absolute rockstar. She ensured that our day went off without a hitch and worked very closely with us on all of the details that were important to us and our wedding day. She is extremely detail oriented, responsive, and above all else an incredible person. We love Elise!! Aside from the amazing team of people at Canal, the venue itself is absolutely jaw-dropping. Gorgeous high ceilings, perfectly decorated with a funky, yet simplistic design. It is truly the perfect setting for any party – and the pictures speak for themselves! We hardly added any of our own décor aside from our floral pieces and it was all the space needed. We were shocked they can fit 120 people for a wedding (or even 130 if you’re okay getting a bit cozy)—and we were so thrilled we could have a larger guest list *and* restaurant-quality (very quality!!) food and drink. Don’t pay to rent a space and bring in meh food. Have your wedding at Formento’s you will never regret it!! Hangout Lighting was a fantastic choice for our wedding reception venue. Jen's communication throughout the planning process was extremely prompt and helpful. I was looking for a space that was already partially decorated and set up, one that had some indoor and outdoor space, as well as one that allowed us to bring in any vendors of our choosing. Hangout Lighting delivered on all these points. We loved the lighting (of course!) and that the beautiful farmhouse tables and chairs were already perfectly in place. Jen offered a lot of flexibility in the timing of the day as well, so we could choose the number of hours that fit our event. I wish we could have celebrated past the 10pm last call and, looking back, might have started our event earlier in the evening to have more time. But all of the rules and guidance were extremely well communicated ahead of time, so we knew what we were getting into. The free street parking was plentiful, and the location worked great for us. Very glad we were able to celebrate our wedding at Hangout Lighting during the first year that they were hosting events in the space, as I think we got a great deal as well, having compared prices with some similar places in the area. Thanks Jen and staff!

Our family held a rehearsal dinner for 60 people at Porter Kitchen on a beautiful night last fall and had the most wonderful experience. We worked with Laura, who shepherded us through the entire process from beginning to end. She welcomed every idea and desire we had with open arms, allowed us to bring in outside vendors for tables and chairs, linens, glassware and flowers and never once said “no” to any request we had. She introduced us to the chef at our tasting and he was fantastic with a willingness to adjust their entrée presentation and ingredients as long as we used ingredients that were already on their menu. They made adjustments for guests with gluten allergies and chef did all of this with a willingness to make his guests happy, without ego. The meal he and the staff served was spectacular and the table service matched the food. Throughout the evening, the ratio of staff to guests was abundant. Passed appetizers flowed continuously and there was never any wait for drinks. They encouraged us to stream our own Spotify playlists through their sound system to create the atmosphere we were seeking and helped us play videos on their multiple TV’s as well. By the end of the evening, our guests were raving about the event and how warmly they were treated the entire evening by the staff. Regardless of the type of event you are holding, this is a location on the river that is not to be missed and a more importantly, an exceptionally professional and accommodating staff that will help your vison come to life. Porter Kitchen easily exceeded all expectations and has earned our highest recommendation!

The Royal Sonesta was the first venue we toured out of about four different places in a day and as soon as we walked through we knew that this was where we wanted to have our wedding. The spaces for the ceremony/cocktail hour/reception were perfect for our wedding of about 75 people. All on the penthouse floor, the views from the different areas give you basically a 360 view of the river and the rest of downtown Chicago but that is just the cherry on top. The team at the hotel is top notch and we couldn't have done it without Lauren. They went above and beyond anything that we contracted, providing 5 star service to not just us but every single guest that we had staying there. If we ever had a question, Lauren was there to answer it in a timely manner, making accommodations and concessions that made our stay and event memorable. Osteria Via Stato is one of my favorite restaurants and it was a dream to have our wedding there! Natalie and her staff are easy to work with, they have great communication, knowledge, and experience. We loved the execution of our wedding by them, the ceremony was perfect for us, it was dreamy in their gorgeous dining room, but you would never guess it was a dining room with the way they set it up for the wedding. Our private room was perfect for our party of 55. We used farmhouse style tables and it was perfect for us as we didn’t want a dance floor. The servers there cannot be beat, they are all extremely experienced, friendly and happy to be there. They went above and beyond to ensure that me and my wife always had the first choice of everything and always had a drink in hand. I’ve been to many weddings where the food is fine or not desirable, but the food here was incredible! Going into this I knew it would be good but I didn’t know how delicious all the hors d’oeuvres would be. We couldn’t just pick a few we liked them all! And the entrees were delicious, every guest felt full and well fed!! We got comments from all of our guests about how great the food, venue and service were! Everyone was pleased and you don’t often find that from wedding venues. We loved having our wedding here and love that we can return whenever we please to celebrate special occasions!

I was pleasantly surprised with how easy and affordable coordinating a party of 150 with this team. We didnt want a traditional reception, so we had a party with small bites and an open bar. The view is obviously amazing, but the decor and the vibe is also unbeatable. The food was great, the service made me feel special. They accommodated our needs, but the place is pretty plug and play. I highly recommend.

Disco balls and shuffleboard? Count us in! Take an unconventional approach to celebrating love. Who needs the cha cha slide when you can have shuffleboard? Plus with a 500 person main floor capacity (plus 200 more on the rooftop) and tropical decor setting the vibe, your guests will be talking about this wedding for years to come!

Why you'll love this venue

  • All-inclusive venue packages
  • Both indoor and outdoor options
  • Provides lighting and sound

Venue considerations

  • No free parking
  • Does not allow pets
  • Not wheelchair accessible
Royal Palms has always held a special place in our hearts. At the beginning of our relationship, I joined a league with my now-husband’s best friends. Shuffleboard (and Shuffleboard Bobs) brought us together, and they welcomed me into the group. We were league regulars and made some great memories, even though we rarely won a game. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted an untraditional wedding experience and were so excited that Royal Palms was willing to host us - their first wedding! Their events coordinator, Taylor, was just as enthusiastic and worked closely with us to plan an incredible event. We walked down a shuffleboard aisle on the roof while the Blue Line passed behind us, making for some incredible photos. Captain Scott gave our guests tutorials while they ate Big Star tacos from a truck and drank amazing cocktails. The energy was incredible, and it meant the world to us to see our families and friends connecting over rounds of shuffleboard. Hosting was easy - the space is already so beautiful that we did not bring in any decorations! No flowers or linens needed. Catering from a food truck was fun and unique. The photo station was fully stocked with props. The AV equipment was ready for a DJ and we kept our custom playlist bumping all night. The bartenders kept energy high and drinks flowing all night (truly the best bar in the city, in my opinion!). We danced and ate and played for hours. Our guests still talk about this night to this day. It was a party to remember, which is exactly what we wanted. Even better than the wonderful memories, pictures, and stories is the fact that we can go back whenever we want to relive the night. Even after two kids, we still make a point of playing a round of shuffleboard every year on our anniversary - it will be 6 years this fall! We cannot thank the Royal Palms staff enough for working with us. They are high-energy and fun, and they are also professional and take their clients’ experience very seriously. You would never know ours was their first wedding - they had every single detail covered, resulting in a seamless night. I look back on that night with nothing but happy memories. I wouldn’t change a single thing!

Our north and east walls feature 20’ arched windows that showcase skyline and lakefront views, unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Intricate crown molding has been restored to its original glory to provide just a touch of character. The space has been outfitted with modern lighting and a sound system to provide guests with a high-end experience they’ll remember for years to come.

  • Private area for the wedding party
  • Exudes old-world charm

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available

The venue is truly amazing. The terrance for our ceremony looked over the Michigan Lake and the City of Chicago Skyline. The indoor area to eat and dance shows a great classy and modern decor. The venue definitely speaks for itself, and does not require much decorations to reflect a beautiful wedding. One downside we experienced was communication. My wife and I were shocked on some of the responses. This was our first time getting married, and some of the communications back to us made it seem like we should know everything about the wedding industry. We also had to repeat multiple emails and communications even though this information was given to another college at the venue.
