Our ancestors settled here in 1635 from Heavitree, England, hence the name. We are one of the few longest-living farms to continue in the founder’s name “Geer.” The Heavitree is an original 18th-century building saved and moved to its current location, a 140+ acre farm started by our ancestors in 1700. The original structure was a tavern in Rhode Island, saved from destruction by Charlotte Geer to complement her family’s historic farmland. Ochre Court, the stunning historical venue located at Salve Regina University. Ochre Court holds a rich history, having been built between 1890 and 1895 as the summer residence of Ogden Goelet. It's truly a magnificent location, nestled within the heart of the picturesque Salve Regina University campus, boasting breathtaking views of the Newport Cliff Walk. The fee for a wedding reception is $30,000.00, which includes exclusive use of the building for a five-hour reception, provision of tables and chairs, setup and breakdown services, as well as dedicated wedding planning support leading up to and during the reception.
