“Julia is truly the BEST photographer out there and she makes everyone look SO GOOD!! We booked her for both our engagement session and our wedding because we loved her so much! She is so skillful at finding beautiful angles and working with natural lighting, and she was great at directing us with suggested poses that didn’t look forced or unnatural. She was also really easy to work with: we met up beforehand to communicate our vision and discuss the kinds of photographs that we wanted for the engagement session and we did that again for our wedding. On our wedding day Julia brought her husband Leo who is also a photographer to assist her and they came early in the morning to begin taking scenery photos, details, and other things while the rest of us got ready. She was there with us throughout the entire day all the way til the end of the evening and she went out with us to take some sunset photos in the middle of the reception, which turned out so beautifully! When I didn't know where to turn in some planning aspects, I asked if she had any advice and she always came through. She was so chill throughout everything. She knows weddings like the back of her hand. I never felt like we were on our own. She kept me cool and calm when some family members sparked some frustration. “April did such an amazing job of capturing every detail and emotion of our day! She was constantly on the lookout for the best lighting and backdrops and only pulling us into photos when everything was already scouted and setup, saving us more time to be with our guests and bridal parties! “Our top priorities in finding a wedding photographer were 1) a portfolio featuring queer couples and 2) a colorful and candid style that performs across different lighting conditions and indoor/outdoor settings. Wraven Designs absolutely delivered. Chatting with Adriane on the phone for our consult, we got the sense that she is an experienced wedding photographer who can remain relatively unruffled under all kinds of circumstances — and this turned out to be very true. Adriane and Lexi, her second shooter, put us at ease and made us laugh throughout the photo shoots of our day. They were great sports about getting wet in the rain to capture our big family group shots, and about being pulled off the dance floor to capture random sets of friends, college & travel buddies, etc. Crucially, they brought along several different styles of umbrellas, which we didn’t even think about until the day before our wedding when rain was forecast. They really made the best of the overcast skies! When we had to switch the ceremony to the rain plan without a lot of advance planning and my wife & I were busy getting ready, Adriane was able to give advice to our DOC and officiant on the ceremony area layout for the best photo setup. Adriane was also very flexible about coverage — she let us purchase a custom package between two of her other offerings, and was down to shift the start/end times of photo coverage a few weeks before the wedding. She and Lexi were very independent throughout the day, roaming the grounds and capturing all kinds of great details without needing direction, and they made sure to let us know about last calls for photos before they departed for the night. We are so thrilled with the memories that Adriane & Lexi captured for us on our wedding day with friends and family. We have romantic pre-ceremony portraits, gorgeous family photos, emotional shots of the ceremony, and fire shots from the dance floor — all delivered on an adorably packaged custom USB. When we’re not behind the camera you can find us in our kitchen whipping up something delicious, doing renovations on our 93 year old home, or planning our next trip. No matter where we are, I can promise that you’ll find a cup of coffee in our hands and our music, (typically a weird mix between Eminem, John Mayer + Journey), turned all the way up.
