What is the delivery fee?

For drop-off only events or in cases where we are meeting you for a pickup, local fee is $15 within just a few miles of our home address. For drop-off deliveries outside of this area, you may estimate delivery at $1/mile (round trip) though this number may not be exact. Since many weddings request or require a professional set up, we also charge a separate fee for event installation.

Do you have a minimum spend for weddings?

No! However, we always consult to make sure the charges make sense. For example, if you only need a bouquet that's totally okay! But if your wedding is six hours away, we want to make sure you are aware of the travel fees that would incur first.

Question 3

What should we expect at our consultation? Do we need to bring anything?

Accepted Answer

Consultations are usually by phone and last approximately 1 hour but can take up to 2 for larger weddings. Please have ready as many details about your wedding as you can, like your budget, style, inspiration, quantities of pieces, etc. This can also include images of your venue, photos of your wedding attire, fabric swatches, your color palette, photos from social media, and more. The more information and ideas you provide, the better we can customize to you. We want your inspiration to guide our creation. After your consultation, we will draw up a proposal with prices and email it to you.

Do you handle flower breakdown after the ceremony?

Accepted Answer

We do offer this service for an additional charge. The actual charges may vary depending on the extensiveness of the breakdown, and whether or not our team is obligated to remain on site or nearby (essentially, on call) for the entire event.

Question 5

How far in advance should we order our wedding flowers?

Accepted Answer

For weddings in May and October, sooner is better. These are the most popular months and book first. For holiday weddings, you may need to book a year or more in advance. For most of the rest of the year, 3-6 months is is usually enough time. (For example, get the quote about 6 months out, so you can book and get the first payment in by the 5 month mark.)

Can I see a mockup of proposed flowers?

Mockups are available for an additional fee for all events, and are charged at our daily rate markups. Mockups may include similar flowers and are not guaranteed to be the exact varieties that we will use in your wedding, which we are happy to explain during your consult.

Question 7

What flowers are in season for our wedding?

Accepted Answer

Many flowers are available year-round! Do not trust everything the internet searches say, because we can source from farms worldwide. However, certain ones and certain types of greenery do have off seasons, and import source affect price. If you have a specific flower that you wish to incorporate, please let us know.

Question 8

Can you provide any decor other than flowers?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We have arches, candelabras, battery operated candles (so many venues are flameless now!), and more that we have offered as add-ons, and we are working on building whole packages around rental-only model.

Question 9

Can you preserve our flowers after the wedding?

Accepted Answer

Sorry, we do not offer flower preservation. However if you do plan to have your flowers preserved, please let us know at your consultation so that we can help you select a specialist that we can work with. Some flowers require special handling in order to be ready for preservation.

Question 10

Do you handle destination weddings?

Accepted Answer

We are happy to consult with you about a destination wedding to see if we or a florist local to the area would be the best fit for your event. Certain destinations have strict import/export regulations.

Question 11

Do you offer any other non-floral services?

Accepted Answer

Typically we do not handle non-floral requests unless it is related to use or movement of floral pieces or our rentals. We will work with your site coordinator related to floral movements. For example: Some couples choose to "repurpose" certain floral pieces from the ceremony to the reception, and while at most venues this is handled by the site team some couples prefer to have our floral team on call (additional fees may apply).

Do you do silk/faux flowers? What about Sola?

We can do high quality silks! This is a popular solution for people who are travelling or planning a destination event, and encounter unique challenges with fresh florals. This is a great solution to a product availability concern, however it can sometimes be more expensive than live cut flowers. We have plans for future rentals. We are not a Sola Wood representative and do not plan to add this option, though recently Sola has been running some great deals for direct-purchase packages with advance planning.

What is your service area? Are there any special fees?

We are located in Midlothian, VA (near Richmond). We sometimes do events outside of the area, even crossing state lines! We charge a mileage-based delivery fee, rental van if needed, mandatory setup minimum, and events more than 2 hours from us we stay overnight. All of these are discussed ahead of time, and we do our best to ensure it makes sense before booking. Many times we are still the best option because we provide dedicated attention, stellar service, and exceptionally fresh flowers.
