How far in advance should we book you for our wedding?

Accepted Answer

Couples book me from 3 years before their wedding, to 2 weeks beforehand. As long as I'm available I'm ready to photograph! Be careful though, in the Fall I normally have no availability, so book early for those aspens in the mountains.

Do you work with assistants or other photographers?

Accepted Answer

I never work alone due to my use of lights at all weddings. Every package price includes an assistant who is there to help me with lighting and help you with grabbing things left behind, fluff the bride's dress, etc. Most of my packages include 2nd photographers, all are outstanding photographers in their own right (I'm a bit of a photo snob). My top package includes both the assistant and the 2nd photographer and is normally purchased for larger weddings. I also work with an amazing videographer and highly recommend booking your photo and video through Gretchen Troop Photography so that you have a proven team who work together seamlessly.

Do you also offer video services?

Yes! One of my favorite people I've ever met through my many years of working in the industry is my videographer. Everyone loves him and thanks me afterwards for recommending him... and he is a great videographer!

Question 4

Do you have insurance?

Accepted Answer

I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.

Question 5

What’s your back-up plan if you can’t photograph our wedding as planned?

In my 10+ years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never missed a wedding. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by someone of equal price (if not greater) and skill from the large community of photographers that I am part of.

Will you edit all our pictures?

Yes, I hand edit each and every photo and go through your gallery in its entirety about 4 times before I deliver the final gallery. I have been working in Photoshop and Lightroom for a long time and teach both programs, so my skills in the editing programs are very advanced.

Question 7

Do you provide RAWs?

Accepted Answer

No. Never. The photographs are only partially done when I shoot them. Adding my editing style and my experienced care to the photos is a big part of what I am offering as a photographer.

Question 8

How many pictures will we get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the wedding, I average about 100 an hour with two photographers and about 80 an hour when I photograph on my own.

Can I change one of your wedding packages to fit my needs better

Accepted Answer

Yes! I always listen to my client's needs and sometimes my current package fits them perfectly, sometimes we need to tweak it. I am always willing to make your wedding photography coverage fit your wedding photo/video needs exactly.

Question 10

What happens if a camera or light breaks at our wedding?

Accepted Answer

I carry 3 cameras with me to every wedding and photograph all day with two. I have 6 professional lights and one on-camera light that I bring as well. I never want to be without any equipment so my back-ups are pretty extensive.

Question 11

Do you give military discounts?

Accepted Answer

I do. I give $100 off of any package if you or your fiance have served in the military. I'm from a military family and greatly appreciate your service. This does not extend to other members of your family.
