I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a designer to do photography full-time, but I’ve never been able to turn the designer off. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick & Denis Villeneuve. While composing I put as much attention into the scene as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and do my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America.

I’m routinely told that working with me is easy, fun, and relaxing. Plus your photos won’t look like everyone else’s. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a wide variety of weddings, straight and gay, involving various flavors of the world’s religions and cultures: Christian, Muslim, Judaism, Buddhism, Orthodox, Catholic, Atheist, Chinese, Egyptian, Chaldean, Persian, Nigerian, Indian, Pakistani, etc. If your wedding is something I’ve never experienced that makes me really excited.

We had the pleasure of meeting JLB in the dead of winter for our engagement shoot, and despite the below-freezing temperatures, his commitment to capturing the perfect shots never wavered. As two people who had absolutely no idea how to pose for pictures, we were amazed at how effortlessly he directed his vision and brought it to life — making us look like absolute naturals in front of the camera! JLB’s professionalism, creativity, and patience truly set him apart. We couldn’t be happier with the results and have already had multiple guests at our wedding ask for his contact information for when they have their big day comes. If you’re looking for someone who goes above and beyond, we cannot recommend JLB enough. A true 10/10 experience.

JLB is the king of photographers. I happened upon his Insta from a work friend’s wedding he photographed last year. I saved his profile and knew I wanted him to photograph us once we got engaged. Best decision we made…other than each other, lol! His work speaks for itself, it’s eye catching, rich with color and vibrancy, and the GIFs he creates are just an added lovely bonus! They are so fun. He is a photography genius, he sees things that we can’t, and I can honestly say that I love every one of the photos he took. He captured our day perfectly and effortlessly. He took the time to get to know us, to ask for any special requests, and he’s super organized. He kept our wedding day rolling smoothly and captured everything we wanted and more. He takes the extra time to know where to go for photos, and we had to do no planning or thinking on the wedding day. He took so much stress off of us. He took photos of our guests at the wedding, organized a sparkler walk out with 130 people, and managed to get the most amazing photos of my husband and I around Detroit. It's not a joke when I say that I've known of JLB longer than I've known my husband. I found him on Facebook well over a decade ago and fell in love with his work on the spot, going so far as to say, "If I ever get married, I want JLB to be the photographer." Absolute best judgment call from a 20-something-year-old kid to hang onto that dream, and I'm beyond excited that I got the chance to actually follow through with that reality. Jeffrey was phenomenal to work with, and he made it feel easy to get two incredibly awkward people into the perfect shot every time. I was most excited for the pictures to come back from the wedding, and he truly delivered. If you want the most magical, artistic, beautiful pictures of your life, JLB is the one. I’d 10000/10 recommend, but the photos really speak for themselves.

I am not sure where to begin… we hired JLB to capture our wedding day and it was one of the best decisions we made in the process. He is a true professional. From our very first inquiry meeting, we knew his energy, kindness, and vision were exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Our engagement photoshoot was the first time seeing him in live in action and for two people that aren’t so comfortable in front of the camera, his confidence and demeanor allowed us to have so much fun. On our wedding day, I can’t begin to describe how celebrated he made us feel. It felt (and still does) so surreal. JLB give us an experience that a couple could only dream of on their wedding day. He truly directs the day to make sure everything goes to plan. We had only interacted with him a few times before, but he made us feel like we knew him for years. JLB made us feel like the only two people in the room, while making sure our guests have the same experience. I can’t even count the amount of compliments we have received from our guest on his kindness, talent, energy, and all of the photos we have shared. The photos are AMAZING!! He allowed us to feel every emotion of that day, while capturing all of our favorite moments. His vision, quality, and eye for architecture are truly unmatched. Our wedding photos feel so true to us and timeless. We can’t recommend him enough. Go book him now!!
